From the Children of Quatre Cette in the Abyssal Labyrinth 執筆日　2025年1月28日 【カトルセッテ家の親族の集まり】 「ふぅ～！久しぶりに集まったなぁ！ みんな元気してたか？」 　これが俺、トパゾライト・カトルセッテ14歳。 何の変哲もないごく普通の少年だ。 白銀の髪に黄色眼をした、イケメン寄りのその辺にいそうな男だ。 推理サスペンスものが好きでオカルト研究部に入ってるが運動の方が得意だぜ。 　今日は親族会議の為に絶海の孤島にやってきている。 こんな不穏な始まり方は某アガサクリスティーみたいに事件の匂いがするぜ……。 「あっ、トパゾ兄さん！」 「うわっ！ととと… 久しぶりだなコーラル！」 抱き着いてきたバーテンダーっぽい少年……もとい従妹のフローライトを抱き寄せた。 「酷いです、トパゾ兄さん…… 私はコーラルじゃなくてフローライトの方です。」 「コーラルはこっち、久しぶり兄さん。 姉さんがそんな格好するから男と間違われるんだろ。」 3っ下の従妹のフローライトとコーラルは男女の双子、11歳か。 一応二卵性で血液型も違うらしいが一卵性に見えるぐらい似ている。 案外入れ替わっても初見じゃわかんねーかもな。 「トパゾ兄さん、トパゾ兄さん♪ だーれだ♪」 俺がフローライトとコーラルにカードゲーム見せてると後ろから目隠ししてくる魔性の13歳が背後に忍び寄る。 「シストか、随分小悪魔に成長したな～ 俺だからいいけどやめろよ？他の男にやったら勘違いする奴出てくんぞ。」 「あら、わたくしが通っているのは修道院の女子寮ですから大丈夫ですわ。 従兄にしかやらないわよ。」 アメシストはさっきの双子の姉ちゃんで珍しい紫がかった髪をしている。 フードを被ってないと月光に照らすと輝くからそういう一族なんだとよ。 「「トパゾ兄さん、ガムあげる～」」 白い方の双子からの差し入れに感激だがなんとなく嫌な予感がした。 ここで引っかかってやるのが兄貴ってもんだよな。 「おお、ありがとう善なる双子よ…… あっちの悪の双子になんか言われたのかな……」 パチパチパチパチ…… スゲー口の中がパチパチするぞ。弾けるぞ。 「ありがとースゲーパチパチする。 お前これで親族会議出席しろとか言わないよな？ 俺だけスゲー浮いちゃうぜ？真面目な顔でパチパチしながら出席していいんだな？ なーに笑ってんだシストと双子！」 「フフフ……ごめんなさい、だって兄さんが真面目に出席してるの想像したら笑っちゃって…… わたくしは止めたのに悪の双子がこの子達をそそのかしたのですわ。 兄さん気づいてると思って。」 パチパチパチパチ！ 「トパゾにーさん♪ どうだった？クリスマスプレゼントに貰ったＤパッチブルーベリーチョコレートだよ♡ うちの会社で作ったシサクヒンなんだって～。 （ほら、ラピス謝れよ……お前がムカつくとか言って渡したんだろ 流石にあのトパゾでも今回はマジギレだぜ）」 「なんで私のせいになるの！？ ラピスやってない！ ラピスはフローライト姉さまと遊びたくて……でもトパゾを黙らせないと始まらないから音が鳴るお菓子で黙らせようとしただけだもん……」 あーあー、泣くな面倒くさい方の悪の双子9歳。 ラピスラズリとアゲートも双子でフローライトと丁度三つ離れてる。 俺、フローライト、ラピスで三つずつ離れてるから覚えやすい。 「お前ら悪質だな、叔父さんじゃなくてディーネ叔母さんにチクるぞ？ いいのか？」 「申し訳ございません。本社の不手際で不快にさせてしまい、この度はラピスラズリが責任を取って将来嫁に行くそうです…… さっ、行けよラピス。 金は無さそうだけどカイショーだけはありそうだよ。」 「うわあぁぁぁぁん！アゲートだいっきらい！！！ 今すぐでてけ！かえれ！ どうしよう姉さま……ラピスけっこんしたくない…… 結婚するなら姉さまとけっこんしたい。」 おいおいそこはコーラルにしとけ。血が濃いから流石に無いか。 こいつらからかうと面白ぇけど大分不仲で悪質だなぁ。 変に頭良いから今のうちに叱っとかないとまずいぞ。 「……あなた達何をしているの！ ラピス、アゲート！ふざけてないでこちらに来なさい。 服が乱れているわよ。」 「「でも母様、ラピスが（アゲートが）」」 「喧嘩するぐらいなら離れなさい！！！ 言い訳するな！」 さっきまで和やかだった雰囲気が一気に凍り付き俺たちはかしこまる事しかできなかった。 「……トパゾさん、お久しぶりです。 うちの子が迷惑をかけてごめんなさいね。」 「いえ、お菓子を貰っただけなんで……あっ、パチパチしてるけど会議前には食べ終わるんで気にしないでください。」 パチパチ…… この状況下でパチってんのはなんかの地獄か？ 耐えろシスト、俯いて会釈してる振りをしながら耐えろ。 ――――「おっかねー……見た？ 相変わらずディーネ叔母さんはこえーよな。 俺の母さんもこえーけどなんか違うんだよ……凍り付くような瞳がクールビューティー通り越してるっつーか。」 「ディーネ叔母様は昔からあんな感じよ。 うちの母様には姉妹べったりだったそうだけどね。 だからうちの父には未だにドライでほとんど話した事無いわよ。」 シストはあっけらかんと言うがお前の父さんはディーネ叔母さんの旦那の男だろ。 あーややこしい！ 他人同士とは言えなんで双子の兄弟・姉妹同士で結婚してて兄が妹と、弟が姉と結婚してんだ。 説明がややこしい！ 一族の説明だけで尺取るのが許されるのはサスペンス・ミステリーものだけだぜ。 ここまででついてきてる人いねぇだろ。 まあ誰か俺の日記を聞いてくれよ。 わかった、複雑な双子の話をしたのが悪かったな。 【あとがき】 当時なんでこんなややこしい設定にしたんだろうと若干後悔してますが変に逆張りしたんでしょうね。 その後神話とか歴史創作してたらこれぐらい普通に見えてくるのが怖い。 余談ですがうちの家系も両家共に子沢山で再婚と連れ子がいるのですが、近い身内ですら完璧に暗記してる人はいませんでした。家系図マニアの私くらいでした。 なので一般的には身内ですら覚えれませんよね…その辺は一族のミステリーものを見る感覚で適当に読んでくださると助かります。 いずれイラスト付きで解説したいと思いますがいつになるやら。 to the next
