Raven Kingdom of Reiwu (Ukoku Reiwu)

Note: The name has several variations depending on the era.

The founder of the kingdom was Corvus Reiwu.

Long ago, five tribes of crow-like demonic beings fought one another across mountainous regions and highlands.
The conflict ended when Prince Corwû of the Reiwu tribe united them all. He then led his people to their ancestral home in the sky, eventually reaching an ancient castle.

During the era of the Five Tribes, they were referred to by other nations as “Keleit,” “Crow Clan,” or “Crowfolk.”

The Sky Realm

The kingdom exists on a slightly small floating island in the heavens, containing mountains, deserts, plateaus, and even a small sea.

The crows frequently descend to the surface world to gather supplies or conduct expeditions.
However, returning to the sky requires crossing the Rainbow Bridge, Bifröst, making transportation rather inconvenient.
On days when no rainbow appears, they are forced to remain on the ground.
After Iris assumed office, she gained the ability to create rainbows herself.

As a massive floating island nation, Reiwu has no fixed location and is constantly drifting.
Thanks to their sharp instincts and homing sense, the crows somehow always know where to return.
In the worst case, staying in Raven (Reivan) allows them to locate the sky realm again.

When drifting above snowy regions such as Roshian, the climate becomes extremely cold. Since the island’s weather depends on the land below, conditions are unstable.

Hierarchy & Customs

A strict rank system exists, and the First Dynasty lasted for three generations.
When descending to the lower world, wearing a crow mask is mandatory.
The official reason: it looks cool and is suitably terrifying.

Royal Structures

Royal Castle
Originally a temple-like ancient ruin, it underwent numerous renovations.
At one point, it became infested with a massive number of cockroach-like creatures, leading to the sudden formation of an extermination unit.
Yorze, Georg, Zan, and Yuim played major roles.
Behemoth, shouting “They’re my friends!!!,” tried to protect the creatures and was promptly beaten up by Zan.

Crow Castle
An elegant, jet-black royal palace.
The Queen’s Tower was inspired by Rapunzel.

The Glass Castle
Inspired by Cinderella. Snow was deliberately made to fall for Belgerica, the Snow White heroine.
The Crow King Corvus, a notorious eccentric with a fondness for cross-dressing, transformed himself into Cordella, “the beauty who appears once every thousand years,” turning the place into something resembling a fantasy photo studio.
The Fourth Queen Flue secluded herself here, living a reclusive and depressive life.

Surface Realm

Surface Reiwu → Raven Empire

To the north lie mountain ranges, snowy lands, and Snowy Roshian.
Later, the empire maintained balance between the Chinese-inspired region and Roshian, while also engaging in diplomacy with Ashihara.

 

Imperial Capitals

Imperial Capital: Urandoll Turan
A land of pride for the nomadic Reiwu tribe.
Cultural exchange with the Chinese-inspired region gave it a distinct Eastern aesthetic.
A magnificent castle stands amid vast grasslands.

Capital Relocation → Snow Country Eldorado
Originally Zan’s territory, it was later chosen as the imperial capital by Emperor Vassago, who took a liking to it.

 

First Era

The first invasion of surface Reiwu ended in total failure ☆
Princess Varona was offered in a political marriage, but she returned on her own.
At last, the Crow King married… and the first queen was human.

 

Side Story: Royal Academy Arc

(Years 5–29 and 50–74 of the reign)

A school was established in the sky realm. Talented individuals were recruited from the surface world.

“Education matters, especially for those who lost the chance to learn due to war.”

• First Headmaster: Revena → Corbeau → Zan

• Vice Headmaster: Esmei → Ottmar

Education System:

• Compulsory education ends at ages 15–16 (Elementary Division)

• Middle Division: Ages 6–10 (4 years)

• High Division: Ages 10–17 (6–7 years)

• University: 8-year or 6-year programs

In the story, Lilikoi somehow remains an elementary student forever, while Mairi suddenly appears as a high school student.

 

Second Era

In surface Reiwu, people began being devoured by bandits one after another.
Unable to ignore this, male forces were dispatched from the sky.

Desert Anomaly: One Thousand and One Nights Arc
Enemies were gods of the Yukara clan, descendants of Anubis.

Chinese Region Invasion: Welcome to Raven!
Once again, Raven proved overwhelmingly strong.
A political marriage took place between Former Emperor Igor and Ayura.

 

Third Era

Surface Raven becomes entangled in mafia-like conflicts.
Meanwhile, Diabolos repeatedly invades from the demon realm. Why does this keep happening?

800 years into the reign, an illicit affair between Prince Uya and Queen Belgerica was exposed.
Uya’s left arm was severed, he was castrated, and exiled to the surface world.

While the Queen’s punishment was under deliberation, she took her own life.
One month later, Uya launched a rebellion, plunging both heaven and earth into darkness.
Torrential rain, thunder, plagues, and massacres followed.

From this point onward, discrimination against the crowfolk by humans began.
